Do you think it is O.K. to use if the bedding being used is
paper towels?

I was pretty hesitant to use it on tupperware shoe boxes with
neonates because of the high humidity & limited air flow.

Any recomendations, or warnings?

just be sure to let it dry before putting the neonates back in their boxes - shouuld not be a health risk.

I received a boa with mites a while back. Didn't see them at first but found them a day or so later. By then one had already migrated two slots away. Was in my quarantine room thank goodness!

I already had a can of provent-a-mite on hand just in case. I had been bringing in a lot of new babies. After I found the mites, I treated all rack tubs and cages that had snakes in them. Emptied the cage/tub, sprayed the cage/tub per instructions and allowed them to fully dry. Then used new bedding (white paper towels) and a freshly cleaned water bowl. Prior to treating, I only saw and killed three, I only treated the cages/tubs once. After treating, I did find a couple of dead ones but never saw another live one. Obviously I caught it early.

I treat all new snakes for mites before I even bring them into the house. A shot of prevent-a-mite or Black knight does the trick. I just treat them in my yard and then take them to the quarantine room. Also, I never keep and re-use shipping boxes...they go straight to the out-door trash.
I had to learn the hard way mites can wipe out a whole collection. It's best to treat any new snake before you put it inside your home.

Proventamite " $20.00 ". A spray can of RID, with the EXACT same ingredients, " $4-5 dollars at the local drug store. " Have nothing against " captitalism ", but just wanted to let you know that there were alternatives for alot cheaper.

I use sawyers insect spray from walmart camping area. same ingredients and same exact smell as proventamite but it only costs 5 bux for a big can. works awsome.

i've heard that P.A.M. can turn a boa white like a pied.anyone seen that before????

I bought a boa a few years ago that has a huge white scar, the owner said that he had sprayed provent a mite directly onto the scales and the scales and skin had come off. Not really sure if I belive him or not but I do still own that boa and the scar is there and it is a brutal scar.
