No wonder you're holding them back. I love the male.

I love suris with peaks that extreme... and her tail! hubba

....That female is amazing!! She is exactly what I would consider the selectively bred ideal!! I can only imagine how she will color up with age. I suppose you can't go wrong with Sipp stock though...lol...both are great animals. Good luck with them!

I'M IN SKIN!!!
guys the body markings are killer, but hasnt anyone noticed that the tail is not blood red as a suriname should be. these animals no doubt have some bci in them that cleaned up the markings on the body but muddied the red on the tail. ive imported hundreds of suris and bred some as well and they ALWAYS have wine red tails at that size. regardless id still keep them but would know they has bci somewhere in its lineage. thats all. manny
and you really had produced BCC litters before you would know that litters can be highly variable. A different looking boa means absolutely nothing other than it's different.
And it definitely does not mean it is a cross.
I'll post some other baby Surinames from that same litter that look totally diferent and have very long RED tails.
Hey, what do you think this one is this one crossed with?
Maybe a blood boa or maybe even a blood python right?
BTW, He was one of the males that bred the mother of those babies.
Send him to me so I can get a closer look!

Sweet young'uns. I really dig the female especially.
But...
I gotta say, having done some thinking about it, the insanely pink sire posted above is the most perfect Suri I've ever laid eyes on, bar none. I mean...whoa. I'm at a loss for words. I've seen that pic a dozen times, yet seeing it now still leaves me breathless. That is THE suri. What is the history of that animal? Did you breed her, Alex?
Marc
none other than, Rob Tudehope.
I have been fortunate to acquire and produce some pretty nice Suri's over the years, but trust me when I tell you Rob's got stuff that will make your eyes bleed, absolute screamers I tell ya. When it comes to Suri's, Rob's definately the man.
If he ever figures out how to post, maybe he will share some pics of his gems with the rest of the BCC enthusiast on this forum.
if thats the case you are crazy to be keeping the one with the least red tail! the name of the animal says it all. that is the most important part of a true keeper....the redtail...the red tail!! i know for a fact and you can argue it all you want that somewhere along the line of either adult there is a colombian boa thrown in. why? easy because when all else fails a colombian boa steps up when breeding time comes. after which you can separate the redder animals (which there will be some of) and bulk out the more colombian looking ones to the pet trade. i can show you animals that in your wildest dreams you'll ever guess there was colombian in its background, but breed it and what happens in the dark comes out in the light. your arguing with 15 years experience working with the true red tails and importing them. i've bred them to colombian boas and animals such as the one in your picture result. something else venezula falls between surnime and colombia on the map right. 90% of them look similar in tail color to the one in the picture. why? thats a natural integrade point in the wild. been to venezuela dozens of times collecting and photographing hundreds of red tails. when there is NO B.C.I. none are EVER born like the one in your picture unless its an anery which that one is clearly not. enjoy your snake just call a spade a spade. true red tails are tough to breed anyway otherwise all these morphs you see floating around would be stemming from a true red tail, its a much more beautiful pallette. however breeders just dont have the patience to grow them slow and keep the temps, photo periods & humidity right, so they go to colombians which are easier, and lately central americans which you have to hit with a stick to get them not to breed. enjoy.

True Redtails
If you would like a detailed description and will post pics let me know and I will more than happy to divulge the information.
As far as arguing the fact that that isn't a BCC, you are arguing with folks that produced the animals and showed you pics of the parents. Are you saying Alex is lying? If so I think that is pretty uncool and you should save your opinions and expertise for some other site. Freaks pop out all the time in litters. To me the animal looks freakish and is just lacking some really rich color. Stuff happens with captive breeding that neither you nor I or anyone else for that matter can explain. It happens in the wild as well, that's why we have localities over time, etc.....
Welcome to the Boa Forum. Most people here are friendly, please be so yourself and save the insults.
Thanks-
Brett
brett, maybe i was direct or short i am a smart ass i'll admitt. by the way i bought a suriname male from you last month because it had/has some of the characteristics of a suri that i was fond of as a kid. but here's the thing, when i saw that animal in the posting, i read the description and it was presented as an prime example of what a suri should look like, now maybe i missed something regarding freakish or something but if you know suri's like i think you do, you would agree that there aren't any suris like that in the world. my background was not mentioned to impress or flaunt, it was stated to make certain i was not speaking from books or hearsay, i got alot of emails from people impressed by the knowledge i have about the geography and history of the country/animal. alot of aninmals were bred by people to colombians because of what i explained, they were disclosed to the buyer that it was a cross, however sometimes that buyer breeds it and doesn't disclose it to their buyers and 12-15 years later no one remembers or knows the history, but here is the magic breed it and the truth will unveil. only crosses have the browning on the tail, and dont even argue it because its a waste of time. unfortuneately i left importing and breeding for the better part of the 90's and 00's now, however if you saw what i've seen, before all eyes were on albinos and hypos and salmons, you would freak. i visit tom crutchfield's shop almost weekly and even he says that the stuff just isnt was it used to be, and he's the first importer of 75% of EVERYTHING you and i collect right now, and its a crime that there is no progress with suris as there is with central americans and colombians, teach me how to post some stuff and let me back up my talk i am new and i apologize for being too frank, i just feel lets get to the point as long as we are having friendly discussion its all in good fun....no? thanks.
I have had imports with those tails as well ... And if you really import Suris , you certainly would of seen plenty of those tails as well.. I worked with an importer and ive seen my share of that colored tail. Koky
-----
koky, if you know suriname then you know it is a true jungle, a final frontier if you will, full of the worse business men, the monkeys they exported were more sensible than many of true monkey that dealt him. and of course this is not all the exporters but definitely some. if you really know suriname you know you have to put up with alot. they will shoot you crap and slip it by you every now and again, i know for a FACT they are smuggling them from venezuela into suriname because suriname works in dollars and venezuelans are broke plus cant export. the collectors rather buy from a venezuelan smuggler than hit the jungle looking for them or even worse dealing with the natives or bartering with them which is no walk in the park either. suris dont grow on trees, they are tough to collect, trust me been there done that. if i knew how to post pictures on this thing, i can show photos ive taken in these places. its hell. no phones for 14 hours in car in many places where true BCCs accure, you need to single prop airplane on the way in and out. you work at an importer i was the importer and i would have to fly there to settle matters on many occasions, and toured there for "fun." if the box said suriname and that makes it a suriname in your view fine, but if you think that then we are on different pages, did you see the tail on the male he posted? body markings suri, tail never, why? typical of integrades. go to rio bravo red tails, kevin miller, gary sipperly back when he was full force, peter hoch in germany back in the day, all have 100% TRUE SURI redtails when has 1 ever looked like that from their litters...ever? whomever cant see that they're lying to themselves. flip the role how could a colombian ever look like a suri if it didnt have some suri in its lineage?
I have seen the parents to those babies and assure you they are not BCC .. And for snakes to cross the borders of Venezuela they don't need the exporters to do that .. Snakes see no Boundries and will travel huge ways etc etc .. I know what goes on over there . And yes i did get to meet some of the bigger guys down there in Surinam
But we are talking now of Alex's babies .. And the parents none have them tails like that baby ... What im trying to say is that there looks to be some genetic mutation goin on with THAT particular baby and one other i believe in that litter.. Look at it closely and it looks like its missing a layer of color all together .. Not just the tail.. But the whole snake .. I know cause i seen these babies just last night and those were the only ones with that tail. The rest of the litter have the maroon or cherry tails i love .. But that doesnt mean that just because those 2 came out different they are crossed with BCI... I just think they are freaks .. But if you were to see them in person you would also agree if you really do have BCC knowledge that they trully are BCC.. Just a couple of freaks in a litter . I have 2 from that litter and their tails are cherry red or maroon
And if you were too see the parents you would also see that there is no BCI in there . Thanks , Koky
-----
ooops sorry i meant to say i assure you they are not BCI
-----
i know what you meant.
ok koky, now i'll listen...freaks are freaks, have you seen what sunny and cher produced? you can get some ugly things from pretty parents. im not saying that animal is ugly but being the red tail is where we should be going with bcc combined with beautiful peaks and no speckling between saddles, i dont see the point of bringing that into a line breeding project. i take what i said back about anery. maybe those are anery bcc something we've NEVER seen before............big maybe though. anyway snakeman or whatever your username is enjoy your snake and all those with their shorts in a knot because im speaking the truth take it easy.
right in front of you everytime you have chosen to hit reply and show us all how little you know. Perhaps you can't even read and that's why you do not know my username.
Frankly, after I read the following from your initial post:
"ive imported hundreds of suris and bred some as well and they ALWAYS have wine red tails"
I knew you were full of it. Stop drinking all that Haterade and please show us your "true" BCC with wine red tails and while you are at it, tell us who you really are. I'm always looking for nice Suri's and know many people working with them. Haven't heard of Mannymoney (btw,I can read) though.
Thanks for sharing your expertise.

as i type now i cannot find your name & i was not about to click back and loose a bunch of time...sorry. everyone is upset about what i see in your snake and thats fine, however how am i hating when im being told that im "smoking something" or mocked about my opinion. i live in south florida, gateway to 90% of all surinames into this country, surinames happen to be my favorite reptile period....and for the life of me swear on whatever is holy i have never seen one that did not have a redtail, some darker red, some lighter almost gatorade orange but never any browning like that found in colombian, venezuelan, c.a. or short tailed boas.....never! please someone show me how to post, so this old timer can show some few in my present collection which i will state in advance are nothing like what steve hammond, steve mui, jessie black & others were breeding in the 80's i dont know what the hell happened to the best stuff. bob futo, kevin miller and mike eckert today are close though. back to the subject, on that particular male there was browning...simple as that. now everyone is stating that its a freak snake, i may have missed the thread, however when i first saw this animal it was being presented as a prime example of what a suriname should look like and i had to disagree. if you like it for a freak thats fine, im not hating the snake i just felt that it was something i was not going to not call on because of what i saw & have seen. guys im not at all upset, nor hating however what am i "smoking" when im simply stating the truth from working with them since a kid visiting bill haast's serpentarium here in miami...does anyone on this thread know who he is/was? although im dating myself let me just state im only 32 so no one thinks im an old folgy. i know many a terrific breeder that intentionally or unintentionally put their peruvian, guyanan, suri and & other true redtails in with super colombians back in the day because either their male would not court or the female would not be receptive. for all those that breed true redtails you know you better be doing it as a hobby and not full time because they are as reliable breeders as yugos were cars. much love to all and peace, excuse any harsh words or any feelings that were hurt by my words..but i have a right to give my side and back up my words...no?
Not all Surinames have red tails. This is a male "Bob Futo bloodline" pure Suriname BCC that I use to own.
This is when he was a baby.
He was a few years old in these pictures.
Take care

BCC breeders are breeding normal BCI's into there bloodline to improve the look of there BCC's. I guess my pair from the "97'" group of suris are crosses with them rusty red tails. Darn I guess I will have to sell them. LOL
I see no BCI blood in them at all. Crazy

True Redtails
i went to true redtails.com very tastefully done website where i saw 2 redtails (nice ones but not exceptional) photographed repeatedly, mention of a common boa orange project thats in the works. an info page of pictures and descriptions from books of b.c. ssp, and by the way melanogaster is a ssp and tom crutchfield has an exceptional and perhaps the only true pair in the USA right now they are from ecuador. then some extremely nice t-shirts for sale.....which i might just order. nothing avialable and mention of a supposed project ongoing since 1997. i'll take his advise on t-shirts.
Just think...if you buy one of the shirts then you would be the first person to own one. I guess I should update my site its only been a few years

Sell that intergrade project to me Dylan! LOL! Adam
I'll buy them

It's good to see some nice Sipperly blood still being produced. I can see why you're keeping those two... they're near perfection!
Very nice, I especially love the female. It'll be fun to watch them develop. Adam
