One of those boas now pooped what resembles tapioca pudding. I will bring it in for a fecal, but in the mean time, they are seperated from the rest of my collection.
However... last week, soon afetr I got them, (before I noticed anything was wrong) I offered the female a F/T rat fuzzy. She didnt eat it, so I put it back in the freezer. Today, without thinking, I thawed it with some other rodents on a paper towel.
Can any parasites live well through freezing and pass to the other food items? I dont know if I should feed them or not, but I'm leaning towards NOT. Please, if anyone has any clue please let me know. I am quite worried about what this could be. Hopefully, it is not anything???

I personally do not think any parasites were transmitted from the food, however if you think so I would trash any rodent you thawed with the "contaminated" rodent. I do not belevie proventamite does anything for internals, get that stool examined ASAP. However I know when I have gotten snakes in before, their first stool was a mess. I think it may have something to do with the plane ride.good luck. Craig Kade

I was lucky enough to come across Mike from Basically Boas and he told me he had also had a similar problem with a few Guyanas. So, here is what I was told and what I did. I will say this, IT WORKED and it worked great! I had to first purchase Nutribac from Nutirbac.com, this replaces the good organisms in the gut that are killed along with the bad ones after you use Flaygl. So, you need to get Flagyl, and either dip the food in that or get a syringe and inject the food with it. THEN.. on the next feeding dust the food or inject with Nutribac. Keep alternating with Flaygl then Nutribac for a few feedings each.

I did this and my boas came back around and were doing GREAT, Solid stools and shedding in one skin etc. I have only had this on 1 group of Boas I ever purchased.. all from the same person.

I was told they -my guyanas- had already been treated for internal parasites. However, I would assume they were either never treated or not enough. I was lucky to get the information and was able to save those that lasted long enough for someone to post the info I needed. I would say it was internal parasites but never had a test done to confirm. I had the same exact stools as your picture though. Looks like a sandy mess.

Good luck and keep us posted on what happens. I would order Nutribac soon. It along with Flaygl worked really well for me.

the vet said it was most likely a bacterial infection. The test for parasites was negative. He administered flagyl and I am getting nutribac soon. Thanks for your help!
