Simply put.... ANY snake put in an artificial environment which has been created for it, and brought up for anyone's pleasure has NOTHING to do with nature.... Be it morph OR locality specific, nature was out the window when these became captive creatures.

We are lovers of these creatures. We treat them better than we treat ourselves sometimes. NOT because we are money grubbing careless people who need something new, and your ignorance for saying so(not to mention you bad grammar and spelling) only shows your immaturity and misunderstanding of that love.

Don't be a hater. We have enough of that in this world as it is.

yeah, and sorrily we have haters/people which are not satisfied with what the nature gives them.

sojourner Aug 24, 2003 11:46 AM

We took them. Even locality specific animals are line bred for particular traits, and the increase of their "beauty" and "color". It has nothing to do with "nature". You want to appreciate nature? Go veiw these animals in the wild... whats left of it.

But I will beat my head into your brick wall no more. Please go back under the bridge from whence you came. I will continue to enjoy the boas that I love..........

btw..do you speak german?errm,i think,i can spell tons better english than you the german language,so don't go on this one, cause you said, don't be a hater.so don't discriminate my grammar,eh...

sojourner Aug 24, 2003 11:53 AM

aaah, great.but your translationprogram makes me laugh, sorry.can you speak some on your own?

sojourner Aug 24, 2003 12:19 PM

But I figured it couldn't be much worse than your attempt with english. I do know a little german, and I think it suits you appropriatly..... but not sure how to spell it, so pardon the translator again..... Scheißen Kopf.... or in French maybe.... marde tete.

Are you having fun trolling these waters?

oh,i'm shure, your german is much worse.
i'm not having fun.the onlyone, who got fun,is the morph-fraction tryin bored from the old to create some new trends.also to feed the junkies with a new hip boa to give you their money...

btw?waters?i only see a desert...

sojourner Aug 25, 2003 05:31 PM

"btw?waters?i only see a desert..."

Take off the blinders... Break the paradigm... There is room for us all on this boat.

Why is it that morphers can appreciate and respect the ideals of the purists(some of us are both, anyway), but not the other way around?.... speaking not of all, but ones like yourself.

I apologize for all my ugliness towards you. I am as passionate about my beliefs as you are, and sometimes my emotions get the best of my words.

PLEASE....... Read my signature line and try to open your closed mind to what it is saying. The world is a lot bigger than you would believe, and there is plenty of "water" to go around.

PEACE

Well then Mr Natural... Here is a MORPH... a BEAUTIFUL MORPH... Imported straight out of Columbia. Can you appreciate it?

I know I can. Then again I love ALL of Gods creatures... maybe except for two... and they've been coming round here quite often lately.

locking it in a 4x2x2 plastic cage, forcing it to drink water loaded with all sorts of chemicals, the finest in frozen rodents, and a dose of medicines it would of never otherwise seen makes your locality boa just another captive. Of course "Natural Selection" is thrown out the window when you lock it in a cage with a female caught in the next tree over and do everything possible for them to breed. They soon become man-made-boas just like the morphs. You pair them up based on the characteristcs of the so-called locality you find most interesting creating offspring that you find appealing. You hold back the animals that look the least like their parents, and breed them to each other..... what's so pure about these boas? There is no difference between this and the morphs.... they are all man made boas raised in a sterile environment with no chance of natural selection taking place.... every breeder wants to build a better boa wether they admit it or not!

Also Charles, thanks for the pics yesterday.I hope to have a male to compliment the female!

bassline Aug 24, 2003 11:45 AM

i think localitybreeders do their best to save locality-populations by breeding and takin care to collect only as much as possible for a breedingstock, while your playin with the newest "trends".

CE Aug 24, 2003 11:49 AM

I don't know any locality breeders that are working to save wild populations? There is no reintroduction of the locality pure boas back in to the wild ? Those boas will remain in captivity just like the morphs.... they are PETS! and bred to be PETS!

bassline Aug 24, 2003 11:53 AM

seems, that you never heard the word "organisations".there are organisations who save nature.what a couple of locality-breeders do is to save the rest of animals, where help came to late...

CE Aug 24, 2003 12:02 PM

you bash what others are doing in repsect to preserving the "natural look" of boas, yet you do nothing to preserve the "natural look" yourself? Why don't you organize the release of your locality animals back in to the wild to increase wild populations already devestated by man? What good is owning the only 2.5 locality blah blah boa if you are never going to do anything with them but fill your pockets? Then you bash others who are breeding their boas to create what thy find most appealing? If you want to fight this fight then fight on the other side and shift your energy to stop rainforest destruction, do what you can to stop the contruction of that new resort on yada yada island where the wild population of boas is already devestated. The boas in CAPTIVITY will always be in CAPTIVITY and are really of no use to the wild populations.

bassline Aug 24, 2003 12:09 PM

what i've said already in another post was, that:where help from organisations came to late for some populations, there are a couple of locality-breeders to save a little rest to keep the art living, while you playin with new trends...

CE Aug 24, 2003 12:17 PM

but not everybody is impressed with the natural look of some boas and have every right to create what THEY like without being prosecuted by the jury. There is room in this hobby to co-exist, everybody has their own likes and dislikes. One man's trash is another man's treasure!

WOW If you dont understand that ALL boas are gods children you Sir have missed the point .Not one breeder can put the spark of life in a boa or any other animal. If you cant see the beauty in all animals i feel sorry for you. That being said have you ever bred a boa.If so where did you collect if from.If you didnt go out in the jungle and get it yourself you have No way of telling where it is from in any true sense.People that make a living collecting boas Know that locality-breeders will pay more for this flavor of the day locality than yesterdays flavor of the day. Please no insulting reply. They say much more about the poster than the target.Brad Wooten lover of all boas, breeder. P.S I thank god for all the babys he blesses me with not a piece of junk in the lot

BASSLINE Aug 25, 2003 01:50 AM

it's not all about "beauty",you know...i can only say, what i told 2 or three times before.theres a couple of locality-breeders tryin to save the rest of populations, where help of organisations came to late, while you tryin to "create" a new hip boa for the people, who need somethin "new" ...

Randall_Turner Aug 24, 2003 12:52 PM

You are the only locality specific keeper I can think of that will openly admit this on a forum where morphers are bashed on a regular basis. And I appreciate it.

I keep both morphs and locality specific, and wish everyone would understand it as you apparantly do.
Thanks Randy T.

You never experience life until you have kids..then you realize what you should have done rather then what you did do

H+E Stoeckl Aug 24, 2003 04:44 PM

You point out to a mistake that the locality breeders should not make: Choosing the breeding animals on certain preferences.
This is tempting but a mistake. I admit that probably most of the locality breeders make this mistake. I used to do the same but try to avoid it for several years now.

But it is by far an exaggeration to equate this with the crossbreeding that is practiced when a locality specific boas is bred to a morph.

It would be the same as comparing the effects of a catapult with a mortar.

You are right that these animals will never be released in the wild, but there are people who want to look at it, even when the animals lives in a cage and not in the wild.

Last of all a comparison: Wouldn't it be great when someone would have a Tyrannosaurus Rex in captivity to look at? Even if this T-Rex would not exactly look like its ancestors?

When the morphers would have been assigned to the breeding and maintenance of the T-Rex we would look at a crocophant now.

Herman, you need to stop argueing that we are comparing apples to oranges...

Morph breeding to Locale breeding is like comparing oranges to tangerines...

And comparing locales to T Rex is comparing Oranges to a cannonball...sheesh Herman

Randall_Turner Aug 24, 2003 12:48 PM

I want to take a vacation to Suriname and Peru, so I can walk in the rainforests and see all of the Extreme widowed peaked, mego purple and pink animals, and of course the Striped ones too, since obviously all of the Purists wouldn't dare to line breed, and inbreed the animals in there possession since they aren't "nature tampering" idiots like us morphers.

Shame on morphers for messing with nature.
Morphs are not natural.

God did not intend for boas to be morphed.
Then again God did not intend for boas to be put in a 4x2 enclosure.

So how about putting your snakes back in the wild so YOU won't be messing with nature?..................i thought not.

The way I see it. As long as they properly represent their snakes...it is all good.

Don't tell them morphing is not natural and I won't tell you that keeping your snakes in an enclosure and away from the wild is not natural.
