How do you tell if a snake is a pastel or just bright. I bought a B.C.I from Tim frazier about a year ago from his normal stock. As it got older she started getting lots of oranges, pinks, and lavander on her sides and belly and they get brighter with every shed. I was just wondering how to tell if she might be something other than just a normal Boa. I dont have a picture or a scanner or I'd post a pic but if anyone could give me their opinion that would be great.

Sorry but I also forgot to ask what is the definition of a pastel I know they are a little brighter and smoother in color but if there is an actual definition for a pastel boa I'd love to hear it.

well a pastel really is just a normal boa, they are just
bred over genertaions for a specific look, but they are just
a variation on normal. Jeff (boaphile's) pastels are defined
by an overall reduction or lack of black, esp reduced side
medallions, this reduction of black typically allows the snake's
other colors to shown thru more, meaning in general they are
higher-pink color than a more average boa.
Jeff's line of boas is termed "Pastel", this is his line, it's
not a morph, but he did coin the term for his lines.
Other boas I call pastel-type or hi-pink. I have one hi-pink
myself that shows all of the 'pastel' characteristics, but
like I said, it really is just a variation on normal. Breed
a hi-pink to a more average boa and the babies will inheriate
various degrees of influance from both parents, meaning some of
the babies will be more hi-pink than others.
