Light ghost after first shed

kirby Aug 26, 2003 10:30 AM

Below are a few images of the very light ghost from a ghost x ghost litter. It shows a few black scales but does not have bands of black on it's tail or head. There is a faint, mostly connected stripe running down it's back. It is shown with two other ghosts for comparison.
From my breedings this year I can see that the 2nd generation ghosts do have a lighter body color and even more faded pattern then the first generation. I think the very light ghost is an example of ghosts to come. It will be very interesting to see if these light ghosts are the way to get to a very light/ white colored snow(?Avalanche)with minimal pattern.

Bill,

I do think the ghost X ghost are the best and your pics support that. How about the eye in your ghosts? Looks like the pigment is really ghost gray as well with the dark pupil. Do you see any that vary much? Thanks...Richard

I have looked at all of the ghosts I have. I see very little variation in eye color from adults to babies that are co-dominant or from the F2 generation. They all look surpisingly similar. The F2 ghosts are definitely more washed out, have less pattern and a lighter body color.

That baby is extraordinary!!! It has such a transparent look - just like a "real" Ghost! I hope you continue to share pics with us as it matures. I can't imagine what it will look like 6 months from now. My little ones are changing rapidly - mostly with their markings and saddle rims which are really fading with each shed. Your little guy there is so extreme already, I figure he'll do the same thing. Heck - we won't be able to SEE him pretty soon......hehehe!! Then, "Who ya gonna call????"

BTW - I love the babies I got from you - so lovely and clean! I am especially enamored with the little hypohets. Their coloring is exquisite - pink-pink-pink with ruby ornaments - living jewels!
