I picked up a pair at Daytona and my buddy picked up a male. Only one of the three has started eating... very unlike any other boa I have owned. Can anyone give me some feedback or tips about these little gems? What's a good way to get them going? Mice or rat pinks? Live or dead? I figured I would try live pinky mice to start them out.

Oz, Each experience is different and so I can only tell you what worked for one of my Nicaraguan boas. She was one year old when I bought her. She ate well for the previous owner but the stress from shipping and the new enviroment had her scared. I tried many of the tricks that have been mentioned in this forum but none seemed to work. Finally I introduced fuzzy mice that had just started to crawl around. She would eat them, but only when they walked up to her face. After a couple months of this she finally started to take appropriate size mice out of my hand. Now she practically jumps out of the cage at feeding time. In all cases that I have had with problem feeders I have found that patience and being gentle are two key ingredients. I hope this helps. I have also found that if they can "attack" from above it seems to help. I would completely agree on the fuzzy mouse idea, it seems to be the only way to go.Good luck. Craig Kade

Mine only eat if left alone overnight with a fuzzy/hopper in a very small area like a large delicup overnight. Other than this method they show zero interest in eating.
