Male has a smaller head than the female?

assuming you had 2 snakes born of the same litter... and you picked up any random 2... One with a larger head and one with a smaller head...i definately wouldnt make my assumption on weather or not they were male or female with that observation alone. Thats not to say that on average a female boas head would be smaller than that of the males... I just dont think that would be a reliable way of guestimating (if there is such a thing)

I have be told all sorts of stuff over the years, and this was a new one I hadn't heard before. Taking the source was a PetCo employee, I thought I just might question it...

To an extent I would agree, however that only really applies to mature adult animals. And by that time there are other visual clues to the sex of the animal as well. I would not try to sex young or sub adults on that at all.
