AbsoluteApril Aug 28, 2003 11:15 AM

Thank you so much for all the congrats and nice comments below!
I can now share my pictures!

This is what I walked in and saw at 6:15pm:

A mass o'babies!

aren't they cute?

of course, there are always the pitts...

it appears the stillborn was strangled by the yolk

this other stillborn was underdeveloped:

a lot still had the yolks attached:

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!
(these babies are 50% poss hets to boot)

Pile up!

nice! what kind of cage you use to breed and keepmooma in when she gave birth. I have a female who needs to step-up to a new cage, i want to breed her in and let her give birth in.
Did mom get aggressive when you try to remove? or take babies?
how many babies did ya have? you set up to cage all of em, what kind of cages you gonna use for babies.I keep my ball baies in boaphile shoebox racks, holds 18, but with boa s. they get alot bigger in a year, and think i might want something bigger. whats your take?
Thanks

Mike
good job, those babes are awsome.

> what kind of cage you use to breed and keepmooma in when she gave birth.

I originally kept Autumn in a 4x2 reptarium screen top cage, but
this past year I upgraded all of my adult BCI into the 4x2
Boaphile cages. These are the drastic plastic, without
the space to slip a heating pad under. I have a stack of
4 heated with flexwatt heat tape on a big apple thermostat.
Wasn't cheap to set up, but worth it! Yes, the boas bred
in the boaphile as well.

> Did mom get aggressive when you try to remove? or take babies?

Yes, VERY aggressive!! She'd always been tame and docile, but
after giving birth she was lunging, striking and hissing up
a storm. I left her alone for 1/2 hour and came back and
she was still hissing even tho I wasn't even in the room.
It was impossible to get her out, I tried to use a shield (top
of a large rubbermaid) to place between her and the babies
so I could grab the babies out, but she kept coming around
the side and trying her darndest to bite me.

I ended up leaving her alone with the babies for the whole
night and when I got up the next morn at 6:30 I was able to
quitely come in and open her tank while she was sleeping,
she just started to wake up but I got ahold of her behind the
head and was able to pull her out pretty easily. She was
still aggressive tho, I was just lucky and got a good grab.

> how many babies did ya have?

26 total live, 2 stillborn and 1 slug! I was very happy with
those numbers, I didn't expect more than 10 or 15.

> you set up to cage all of em, what kind of cages you gonna use for babies.

Right now they are in a holding tank, 3x2 reptarium, and I
have shoe-box size tubs set up for them individually with
water bowls heated with heating pads. Nothing special, just
set them up along the floor, my snake room stays pretty much
70-75 and with the heating pad it keeps the wamr end at
80 at night and 85-90 at the day.

hope that helps!
