while playing with my male boa i realised that he lacks spurs. i baught him as a male and need him to be a mel because of a smaller size. he is about 5 feet long. does this mean its a she?

Could be a female, but you can never be sure unless you pop or probe. I have a female suriname with huge spurs alsmost looks like a male except for the fact that she is proven breeder. How old is you boa?

I have a 2 year old male Hog Island boa that has no spurs. I've had him sexed by several independant sources, which involved probing and other methods, and they all confirmed he's a "he". So presence of spurs is not always accurate. See if you can find someone local to probe!
