***WARNING!! THIS POST MAY CONTAIN ANNOYING NEWBIE NONSENSE!!***
Hi all! I picked up my first boa yesterday! According to everything I've learned, I should maintain an environment similar to my ball pythons? Here's what I got:
Late '02 Dumeril's Boa 0.0.1
30" /- 2"
bed-a-beast and aspen for bedding
2 hides, one with moist sphagnum moss
large water bowl
20 gal long
temps: 92-75 by UTH and 60watt night bulb
amb hum: 65% /- 10%
It appears to be completely healthy. No mites, tics, no left over sheds, no signs of resp. infections, healthy muscle tone. It took 2 f/k adult mice today, after only one day of acclimation, and probably would have taken 1 or 2 more, so appetite appears healthy.
Until I learn otherwise, I intend to maintain this snake as I do my ball pythons. Is there any advice or important differences in care I should be aware of? Thanks for any replies and help!
