3 weeks ago a local vet gave me this boa (somebody found it somewhere) to see what I could do for it. I told him that I would probably release it into the wild (I live in Venezuela) because the chances of survival would be greater since it totally refused to eat anything they offered her. I planned on force feeding her some liquid food before releasing her so she would not be THAT weak. At her 9 feet, she is only bones and skin, I have never seen such a poor and skinny animal. They made a health check and said that she had no parasites and nothing else was wrong with her.
After 2 weeks or so, I just put a thawed rat in her cage (thinking, “yeah right”). Many times very weak and shy WC boas are scared of live food items. To my surprise (or better, to my relieve), she ate it. I put 4 more in and half an hour later they were all gone also.
Here a pic of her, with 5 adult rats in her. Still looong way to go, but I won’t release HER in the near future. She truly won my heart and probably I’ll keep her, her black saddles really caught my eyes. The newspaper is 2feet x 1.2 feet.
