I used to get to work every morning and go straight to the KS Forum to read all the great stuff I missed in the last 12-14 hours. Now it seems like there is very little posting going on here. Is it just me? Is it because people are not wanting to post their animals and then have someone call it a mutt or just avoid the arguments all together? Seems there has been alot of fighting going on,, but not alot of great posts like usual.

I dont understand.. but I do know what I like. I Like BOAS.. so here is a pic of one of my Hypos and the Harlequin.. if you like them GREAT.. if it is not your favorite.. then that is ok too.

In my opinion a forum should be also a place for discussion. Contemplated in a global way breeding boas is not only a hobby but also A LITTLE BIT politics since endangered animals are involved.

You may say that that the keeper of one or two or even a handful boas will not care about "breeding politics" and is not involved in this. But with his purchase- and breeding politics he is part of the large community of boa enthusiasts and he/she also determines the way breeding of boas will go in the future (either in the crossbreeding direction or the "keep boas pure" direction).
If no one buys morphs anymore, no breeder will produce morphs because he/she would not be able to sell them anymore.

Same thing vice versa with true locality specific boas.

In the past there was a huge hype for morphs in the U.S. and locality boas could only exist in a niche. This is slowly changing now. Like in big tankers the course does not change rapidly, but slowly. But it changes.

This can not happen without discussion. Since the convictions and business interests of breeders are involved or even violated, this often leads to heated debates. I don't know if this is avoidable.

But on the other hand a forum just for posting photos and either praise them or shut up would be boring, wouldn't it?

I am aware that there are lot of people who don't want to have discussions and heated debates, but other people (many quiet readers who are not posting) build up an opinion out of this debates. So an equal mixture of debates and maintenance information and posting photos just for the delight of the people would be the right thing IMHO.

I agree with you Herman that debate is a good thing, but I tend to disagree with the extremity that many posters go to (on the purist, and morpher side alike). I am a morpher, and I have pure locale boas as well. I think both are important to the hobby. I can appreciate the point of view that a purist takes in the debate, I also appreciate the views of morphers. I think this forum would be a more herper friendly site if we can keep from insulting/mudslinging and share our opinions in an orderly fashion (and yes I know I have slung insults and mud with the best/worst of us).

I also used to rush each day to KS to see what I'd missed overnight. These days I may take a look once or twice a week (unless I find a topic I decide to participate in, then I follow it). Why don't I come around as much? Because I'm sick of the arguments, the members that troll and stir up trouble and insult other people's animals. Life's too short for that b.s. I use more of the smaller (but growing) forums where that isn't the norm. As for this being a board for 'politics' of boa breeding - bull****. It's for discussions of animals we love, sharing pictures and information and RATIONAL discussions of differing views...not the name-calling, childish behavior it often sinks to these days. We've lost a lot of good members because of where the board has gone...I dare say it'll be a continuing trend until things change.

I'm like you. I get up, get a cup of coffee and hit Kingsnake every morning like a lil' kid @ X mas! Alot has changed.There's still alot of beautiful snake pics being posted such as yours BUT, the discussions are more heated than they used to be.
I have a disease that causes me servere memory loss (short term) Sometimes I ask questions and get insults from replies.
I've breed boas & pythons & colubrids....ect. But, If I ask a "simple" question that I can't seem to remember, I get " thought ya breed snakes" or other rude comments. This hasn't happened in sometime. I've even been acused of NOT breeding animals that I work with & have breed from people that don't know me, have never been to my house & have never purchased from me.So I just don't ask much anymore.
I've posted that I do infact have a disease the cause my memory to go to squat.I don't expect anyone nor everyone to remember...But I sure didn't expect some of the rude answers I got. Wheather I have a disease or not...... seems like just a simple answer to a question would be sufficiant.
I'd like to see some members "lighten up". We're all here (or I thought we were) to show off our animals and exchange info.
Hopefully we can all enjoy the BEST reptile site in the World & all play nice together. By posting bout my disease, I'm in NO WAY setting on a pity pot. I have it & except it. Just wanted to state that.
One last comment..why post negative issue's on misspelled words? It doesn't do anything but point out a typo or make fun of someone. It solves nothing.
I'm not complaing. I'm not mad @ anyone. I'm not picking on anyone. I'm not pointing fingers @ anyone.I'd just like to see the forum be what it used to be.

I used to think this forum was going at light speed, cause I'd post in the afternoon and a few hours later I'd have to scroll down to find it (and there were usually already responses). It's seemed pretty slow to me lately too. I'd try to contribute, but I'm in college now and I only see my boa on weekends. I really miss him Anyway, hopefully things will pick up soon.

The Kingsnake Form was my daily routine. Every day I would spend hours reading the posts, and looking through the classifieds. I am not a frequent poster by any means - however, I find myself very reluctant to post here at all these days. I am not certian that I even want to post photos. I can appreciate discussion, although I cannot condone the striking lack of moderation in the discussions of late.

It has been said many times before, by many people on this forum: we all share the common bond of our love for boas. Whether you be a breeder or collector - whether you favor morphs over localities. I believe the best action that anyone can take when one of these 'trollers' attack a post is: ignore them. If you react - you only feed fuel to the fire and they get what they want: a reaction. If this forum is to return to the wonderful place that it was, then we all have to band together and adopt a policy of "no reaction" towards those posts that are so obviously aimed to get our emotions enraged.

We have such a wonderful tool here. It is hard enough to find people with this common interest, why let a few ruin this forum for all of us? After all, there are probably many who - like me, do not post thier animals because of these few "trollers".

With all of that said, I will start to post my pictures - regardless of what may or may not be posted in response. I hope that I will not be the only one that follows this example. I am just another up-and-coming Boa breeder, who is aiming to produce the most beautiful boas that I can in the best environment that I can provide. I don't know everything, but I'm am determined to learn. I love my babies more than anything (don't tell my husband ) and I am very proud of them all, regardless of what anyone may say.
