I posted this on another forum, but didn't get many replies. What's your opinions are on using virosan? Has anyone had any problems at all with using it?

I use it for cages, water dishes, and floor mopping in the snake room. I always remove the animal, spray and let sit for 15 minutes and then wipe clean. I always rince water bowls thouroughly before refilling. I have had no ill effects and would highly recomend it.

I've been using Virosan for about 2 years and I am pretty happy with the stuff. Its a heck of a lot easier than the bleach I was using before that. I am not as strict as some in rinsing the residue away. I spray out the enclosure and wipe it down about once a month, and then spot clean with the stuff a couple times a week in between. I have a kingsnake that is allergic to everything, he starts wheezing and blowing nose bubbles if I leave any traces of virosan in his cage (but then again, he does the same thing if I put him on ANY wood substrates like aspen). Other than that, I have never witnessed any reactions to Virosan. The maker makes claims that it has a very very low toxicity. I hear they use it to rinse out animals mouths if they have to do any oral surgery. If you do decide to get some don't purchase it from any reptile dealers because the price is usually SUPER inflated. Buy it here...

I'm told that one concentrated gallon makes 128 gallons of product once diluted, all for 29 bucks. You can't beat that!

I use Virosan, Nolvasan. It is strong stuff. Like bleach, it will kill anything. I only use it for periodic sanitizing, or when I have a contamination problem. When I use it , I make sure to rinse it ALL away, then let the area treated air dry, completely. It can be harmful to herps, and humans, if not used carefully. For daily cleaning, I use Hydrogen peroxide spray, then vinegar spray. This combination is hard on bacteria, and viruses, yet it will not kill you, or your snakes, unless you really go crazy with it.
