First time its happened, I dont know what went wrong. She just got spooked and bit my hand. She has struck at me in her cage but has never gotten me. I really could use some suggestions on how to have her stop the striking. I have two other boas which are puppy dogs. I'm wondering if its just part of her personality. I could really use some advice on getting her to stop. My girlfriends dad sprays on cologne before handling his snakes, so they are familair with the smell, does that really work?

IMHO The only striking I see is around feeding day. I keep the rodents in another room till feeding time. Snakes that are strong feeders can get trigger happy ...striking first and "thinking" later. I have gotten into the habit of reaching into the cages with a snake hook first and slightly moving the snake to give them the signal that I am picking them up. Then I just pick them up. Or if they have wrapped around the stick some I pick them up with it. Your largest snake has grown WAY too fast. I have put nippy snakes in a zippered pillowcase and gently handled them while watching TV. I don't think your going to get that one in a pillowcase though. Snakes can be "moody" too. One of anery Kenyans gave birth a month ago, and she can be really pissy, or really tame now just depending on how she feels? Good luck. Frank
