Who thinks a half log is a good or bad hide box

which one would you use for the best hide box

i would say put both in and let your snake decide. personally i like them. i put them in the middle of the cage going longways so he ahs something to climb on and a rough surface to start his sheds on. another good aspect of them is that when your boa curles up inside of the he is touching all side of it with his body and that makes them feel safer from what i hear.

I don't like using wood products like that because the attrack and harbor mites. Make sure it is very clean and pre-treat it as well just to be safe. I agree, let him decide... see the bigger one can be good for hanging out in now and in the future.. but they say a true hide box that will make him feel secure should be just about fitting his body when he is tightly wrapped up, so that should be pretty small! but you gotta leave room for growth too
2 sizes are great...

my babies (colombian boas), during their first few months of getting established, get both an empty toilet paper roll and a tiny cereal box, you know, the ones for personal servings.. this way if they dirty them I can just replace them easily during cleanings.. I keep them in Boaphile Shoebox and Sweaterbox racks.
