medusaslair Sep 25, 2003 10:16 AM

Hi everyone, I have a new to the family 8-9 month old red-tailed.It has been a member of our group since 8-23-03. Tobi, has eaten several times, shed once, over all seems very healthy, and active, weighs 500gm, not losing weight. But I have not noticed any poop?! Since housed alone it makes it easy to notice this. Also she has been soaked and massaged, still nothing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Well this just happens to be the experience that I just had recently with my two year old male Kenyan. He ate on a Thursday and I noticed several days later that he was near shed. I expected to find some poop a couple of days after eating. I didn’t. He refused his next meal, but it was not until the day he finished shedding that he did any thing. I want to say that it was over a week or close to two weeks. Surprised me. I just thought that I was missing it somewhere in all the sand.

You might try some putting the snake in some warm water for a few minutes. I know it used to work with Bearded Dragons.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the warm soak again. If you dont mind I'd like to give you some back ground on her. Well here it goes and maybe you can think of something else, Got her on the 27 of Aug ate 3 sm adult mice f/t on same day, no problems she fed again on the 4 of Sep this time a med f/t rat then she went in shed around 9th of Sep gave a warm sauna in shed ease and carefresh mixture on the 15th of Sep and she shed on the 16th of Sep (one piece) Still no def, weighed her on 19th of Sep(500gm) and soaked in warm bath(now Im worried no mouse/rat poopies)She ate again on 21 of Sep a med f/t rat and soaked again on 23 of Sep. Im not sure if you can answer anything off this info but I thought it might help. I was told no parasites (in/ext) But who knows if she was really checked. I know Ive got to get her to a vet if she doesnt go. Any waysthanks for reading this looonnnggg note.
