shouldn't it be at its best? i know a guy who has some babies but they all look a dull grey, not silver or dark phase... just very dull...

.... a good indication of how the babies will turn out, but not always.
In my limited experience I have seen several "ugly duckling" boas turn into some truly outstanding specimens. Sometimes you just never know.

never really knew where to look... both males and females should have them right? the male's are bigger though.
