my boas get excited by the smell of food but would ignore a ft rat lying in their cage.... however once i move it a bit.. spahh...its a lightning attack.. they eat like a pigs other wise.. is this nowmal....

ps... the male has a very very fast attack... he coils himself to the rat and up half way the hemostate and there is no way to make him let go.. he just ciols harder... when i forget to feed him last i always have to wait for him to finsh before i can feed the female... ehhh!!!

They use both. Sometimes they need the stimulus of movement to elicit a feeding response. Usually after a while, they'll be more than happy to just eat a thawed rat that's just sitting there.
