Are corn island boas considered different than nicaraguan boas?

The reason I ask is because corn island boas are listed as being from nicaragua and I've heard that both are usually smaller than the average BCI. Is the only real difference that one type is from the main land and one from an island?

Also, I've seen MANY nicaraguan boas listed on price lists for around $50 per animal. Is this because they are WC?

Is anyone captive breeding them with any regularity? If so, are the prices much higher than $50? I've only found 1 breeder that I know of that is breeding them and so far he hasn't gotten back to me regarding prices because his wife told me he is out of town.

Can someone enlighten me?

Also if you know, how much would a Type 2 Anery Nic cost? I've looked and looked but I've found no prices for them.

I believe corn isle boas are from an island off the coast of Nic. (Isle de maize maybe?) they are very different though, similar to how hoggs are different from any other BCI. As far as breeding nics in captivity, it is being done just not in great numbers, part of the problem I beleive is the cheap price on normals. As far as type II anery, I wish I could find a true one. I have seen many wannabes advertised as type II, but nothing that in my opinion was real. I know Jeremy Stone has atleast one VERY nice type II, but I do not beleive it produced this year. I am working with a line of hypos that I am not completely sure of their lineage, but they definitly look very nic like and breed under 4' for the females. I hope someone more "in the know" will answer and either confirm or correct this info. I hope this helps some. Craig Kade

Amanda, There is an excellent article by Gus Rentfro on Corn Island boas. If you can't find it by searching this forum, then e-mail me for it. I own several Nicaraguan boas including a Type 2 anerythristic female. Her photo is attached. Adult ones are rarely for sale. Last years prices on babies was about $400 each. Occasionally there are some posted that are not really Type 2's. With good clear photos you should be able to tell. I hope this helps. Chris
