Still unsure about my Nic boa

great_bull Sep 30, 2003 08:22 PM

I have seen some of the posts about questionable hypo nics. I thought mine was hypo but now I'm not sure. I looked at the website Chris recomended ( thanks Chris ), and am still confused. Toms normal nics are smokin too. So, I am posting these pics and asking for opinions. Please excuse my ignorance and bad photos (colors are so hard for me to get accurately). There are more photos in my photo gallery if you cant tell here.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Mike, It is difficult to tell from your photos. Your boa does not appear to be a baby and Hypo Nicaraguans can darken when getting older. Attached is a current photo of my two year old male from Bryant King's proven line. I can usually tell if it is a hypo with a good clear side shot photo of the tail. I hope that helps. Chris

its hardy worthy of being called a morph is it?

You shoulda seen some of the original hypo colombians. They werent much to look at either, but look how far they've come through selective breeding.

I wasn't thinking of it that way. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks. I got my animal in Daytona a year ago. It was mixed in with a bunch of recently imported farm bred animals. After purchasing it, I showed it to Bryant and he said that he thought it was a hypo. The tail of mine looks like yours. I just cant seem to capture the orange and pink in a pic. The nice contrasting black and red on the back came out....the tail is just a problem for me. Thanks for your time.

I would say it looks like a hypo. The hypo nics don't (as you mentioned in a reply above) look like the Salmon Hypos because almost all of the Hypo Nics available now are farm bred imports. With future breedings, I think the hypo nics will be incredible. Unfortunately, because they haven't been selectively bred yet, some of them are a little darker and get even darker with age. I would say, based on what I can see of that tail, though, that it looks like a hypo to me!
Hope that helps a little.
