Were the Neodesha Cages always that expensive..........more

D.M.Reptiles Oct 01, 2003 12:02 AM

I was looking to purchase the 6' neodesha cages. Were they always that expensive? I could have sworn they were much cheaper. It looks as if it is a new company. Is that the case? If so they are a ripoff. $539 for a large 6'cage without shipping or tax is insane. They would end up like 800 per cage, who would be crazy enought to purchase that when there are so many available options for much much less. Give me your input. thanx check it out at neodeshacages.com

I make my own cages for $55 my biggest cage is 10ftx6ftx3ft and it cost me $95 to make it houses an adult nile monitor. I dont know why anyone buys cages unless they're ten gallons, thats the only type of cage i have bought. $35 for wood, $15 for custom cut plexi glass, and 5 bucks for the small pieces of screen. Easy easy easy, i should sell mine for $300 HAHA.

Oh the $55 builds a 6ft by 3 ft by 2 ft enclosure, i had the plans on the net but my girlfriend told me to take them down, email me if you want them.

Some of us don't have garages and therefore don't own any power tools. And at the age I'm at, none of my friends do either. I personally like melamine or plastic better anyway, but I still wish I had the option of making my own cages.

When you have 10 6' cages to clean every saturday that is the reason platic ones are bought, i have made my own and they dont even compare to the visions, the neodeshas look easier to maintain, but at $200 more per cage for the 6 footer its not worth it. Its all depending on what works for you. thanx for the input. Plus i move alot and need portable cages. college sucks

I just wish Ronne would have started building his cages earlier.
I bought 4 neo's and a rack about 3-4 years ago. They are great cages!!! But, hell are they expensive!!! I won't ever get one again. Too expensive for me.

I don't know about your 6-footers, but neodesha has the cheapest 3' cages I could find that I liked.

I originally wanted visions, but they charge way too much for those. $199 a cage for a 3' (not inc. shipping!)

Then I looked at the boaphile cages-He also charges $199 per cage plus shipping.

Neodesha charged me $119 a cage plus shipping. Not bad. They also gave me a multiple-cage discount-On top of that, they couldn't get the racks done at the same time as the cages, so they were willing to ship them in separate shipments without charging me extra. Then UPS damaged one out of 6 I ordered, and Neodesha is replacing it and re-sending it to me as we speak.

have been looking for something to put my growing collection of sand boas in. I have been leaning towards a rack system. I am just wondering what do you have in yours? Thanks.

The rack I was talking about was to hold the neodesha cages. As for a rack system-I'm just using some white shelving from lowes with several 15 qt sterilite boxes on it.
