hey-

I may be getting A suri boa in the near future and i need some info on them.first off, do you treat them like any other normal boa as far as care goes?Does this special kind of boa get bigger then other kinds or do they stay small or something?i LOVE how these Suri look and they are so cool, and id love to have one. This will be my first snake so do you think it is ok to get one,or should i get a colombian redtail boa?and as far as prices, do the suri boas get to be real expensive, liek over 300, or do they stay rather cheep(less then 300 or so).and if you could post any sites where i could buy a Suri boa since there are no reptile places that specialize in suri boas.thx

ps. are they called Suri boas ir is suri just short for something?

but if you have to ask what suri stands for, you may want to consider doing alot more homework before buying one...

they are beautiful, but with the beauty comes fragility...
theyre more delicate thatn 'normal boas'..... my advice is to do a BUNCH of research first.

i dont want you to think im flaming you but DAMN man for 1 suriname boa's are definitly not first snake material in my opinion i just got a guyana which are somwhat close to suri's.this is my fith snake and 6th reptile. and i dont realy know if im ready. 2 if you only heard it as suri well then you must have done no homwork at all.3 yes if you are stuck on boas go with a colombian or an other bci or maybe a hogg island boa they are a bit smaller.but if i were you and i would look at a ball python they are great first snakes or mayb a corn snake. i hope you dont take this wrong because we all get ahead of our self and get caught up in a surinames beuty at some time or another.

well yeah i know i still have a ton to read about and stuff, i just dont want to read all about them and then find out that i cant efford one. i think i might just go with the regular colombian red tail though,cuz the suriname boas seem to be to expensive.

Before buying any........do ALOT of research. I feel Colombians make a great first snake as they are more forgiving in their requirements. But.... do you even like snakes?? (Take no offense) I'm just asking out of curiosity because the majority of snake lovers LOVE to read about all kinds of snakes....not just the ones they plan on keeping and your last post kind of made me say hmmmmm. Good luck on whatever you decide to do , oh and yeas....Suri's can be expensive.

i dont think you get what im saying...

i said that i dont want to do all the research on the suri later to find out they cost an upwards of a grand or more, cuz then i couldnt get one so doing all of that research would be useless.i really want a boa, so i think i may get a columbian red tail since my brother already has 4 ball pythons so i want something different then he has. i have about 500 bucks saved away for the snake and his cage, and once he grows bigger then ill buy a bigger cage and all of that good stuff. sorry if you guys took what i was saying the wrong way lol, but ive been doing a ton of research on RT boa's so i think ill be ok if i end up buying one.

well i guess i am somwhat sorry for what i said i was a bit harsh .if your gana get a boa and its your first snake go with a male colombian.500$ can get you a cage bigg enough for its whole life and the snake.
