I came home today and my sisters told me that my red tail had struck at the aquarium trying to get them when they entered the room. This was pretty shocking to hear cause my snake has always been a sweet heart. When I came into the room he immediately struck at the aquarium again, so I tried not to move at all but still just try to observe him in the aquarium. His mouth seemed very swollen but my sisters couldn't remember if it was like that before or after he hit the glass of the aquarium. I decided just to leave him alone and came back into the room about 2 and a half hours later and he seemed fine he was just curled up next to the other red tail in the tank like nothing was wrong. He didn't seem to be aggravated by me being in the room with him but I didn't try picking him up yet cuz I didn't know what to do. I've had both my redtails for over 3 years and this has never happened. I've never heard about snakes just "wiggin out" for no reason. He was truly trying to get to me and bite me through the glass and i have no clue why. I fed him about 4 days prior to this and just held him yesterday. He seemed perfectly fine when I was holding him cuz he just curled up in the sleeves of my shirt and just chilled out for awhile. Can somebody please tell what happened to him or what might have caused him to be temporarily aggressive and then just fine again. Also how long should i wait before trying to pick him up again, and should i leave the other snake in the tank with him just incase something might be wrong with him. Please any help is greatly appreciated, he scared the crap out of me when he did this not because i was afraid he would bite me but because i'm afraid he might be sick or something.
Thanks in advance for any help
Kate
