One of my female cuban boas was eating tonight and scooped up a mouthful of aspen bedding. Not a whole lot but more than usual. About a "pinch" worth. I doubt it will hurt her since they can dissolve bones and fur and everything. And she always swallows a little and it never hurts her. But I had a FL king a long time ago that choked to death on corn cob bedding so I get a little concerned. Just wondering if anyone has any comments or experiences like this. Thanks alot.

How much aspen bedding would a snake have to swallow for it to be harmful?

Big differance in corn-cob bedding & aspen. Corn cob actually will lacerate the mouth, aspen will not. I wouldn't at all about aspen. Many of the top breeders prefer aspen and newspaper, as I do too. Hope this helps.

Thanks alot. That does help to reassure me. I figured it wasn't anything to worry about but just wanted to be sure. I just started using the aspen maybe 6 months ago and I love it too. Best substrate I've ever used. By the way, that was when I was about 10 years old with the corncob. It was the first and last time I ever used it.
