Dumeril Growth and Breeding

giles Oct 16, 2003 02:09 PM

I have a pair of subadt Dumerils Boas. The male is approx 4.5ft long and weighs 1.7kg and the Female is just over 4ft and weighs 1.4kg. What would be an ideal weight for breeding size for a female? Mine is over 3 years old and I have been feeding her gradually so she never gets overweight.

Female Dumerils should be around four years old and about 6' with girth. This allows for normal hormonal changes with age. You could breed her younger but then you run the risk of high slug return. I have a one year old High Pink that is 51" and 4" maximum girth; her mother was a seven foot High Pink. I feed one small rat per week, not power feeding. Heredity plays a role in development. All my Dumerils are offspring from the best USA & European bloodlines. No Dwarfs here.
