CO2 euthanasia

stoopid Oct 21, 2003 11:44 PM

i couldnt get any frozen mice today so i picked up some live ones. whenever i feed live i usually just smack them in the head with something and toss em in the feeding tub, but i have some co2 cartidges for pellet guns and paintball guns. could i just puncture the cartridge and spray it all in a box of mice rather than the above method?

Why don't you just put the mice in a rubeermaid shoe box, and then put it in the freezer for 5-6 hours. That's what I do. Hope that helps

Because freezing is probably the most inhumane method of euthanasia? Just a guess.

Heads I win tails you lose. Get out of my way I am coming through. Roll the dice and dont think twice when we crush....crush....crush em...crush em! Now I lay you down to rest. You'll never be more then second best! Megadeth

What I do is get a container with a semi air tight lid like a five gallon bucket. Then cut the stem plus a circle base from a bicycle tire innertube. Drill a hole in the bucket lid just large enough to squeeze the air tube stem into it so when the lid is on the bucket it sticks straight up. Then you can go to any bike shop or walmart and buy the emergancy flat tire CO2 holder that will fit on the stem. It works like a charm. I have beeen using this method for years and works fast.
