i have two unsexed boas living in separate identical cages.. they are siblings.. about a year and a half old and around 4.5 feet long. they were feed every 7-14 days. one of them suddenly stoped eating. they were always pigs and ate aggresvly always!!! it has been not eating for over 3 weeks. it had shed before and is not blue now so its not due to shed. it pooped 2 weeks ago so i do not think that there is some blaockage.

why isn't it eating. i tried rats, even freshly killed or small live ones but nothing. i breed my own rats and never had problems with them or anyother snake so i do not think its parasites.

please help me.. any suggestions?

ps.. the temp are standard and controlled using a thermostate... it not the temps

If everything is normal, three weeks isn't so long to worry about. It could just be a slow down due to the onset of winter, shorter days, possible barometric changes, etc. that the snake can sense. I was going to suggest some other things to look for, but I'll leave that for the more qualified folks.

unlike you i take very good care of my snakes. i don't house them together and then get worried if they accidentally get pregnat when they are not at their peak health!!!

if you cannot accept a criticism then don't post hear. and that happened over a month ago and you are stil going on about it. ehh!!!

anyway thats not the problem here. can anyone think of a possible prolem for me? cqan boas who are perfectly healthy go off feed some time due to extenal environmental changes that they are able to sense?

If it's a male boa, 18 months old means it could be sexually mature, which in turn could mean it's going off feed because it's feeling the need to breed.

Even when kept at similar temps year round, boas often stop eating during the fall/winter. If it has eaten well for you in the past, and shows no signs of ill health, I wouldn't sweat it just yet.
