Just wondering what I should do right now....
I fear I may have caught it too late. His throat is distended and if you run your finger along his throat he expels a large amount of clear mucous out his mouth and nostrils. He has been off feed but this is the first time he has had any symptoms of a RI. I have just put him into a new cage where I could raise the temps and humidity. Should I help force out the mucus or not, I feel that I could get a large amount of it out of his throat if I had to....especially if it was the difference between life and death.

being that you can now provide more heat and humidity.
If you have a local reptiles vet, take him there asap.
In the meantime, raise the heat and humidity and make sure e has fresh water to drink, which you must change very frequesntly - I would suggest 3 times a day. They need to drink and can keep extending the infection if they come in contact with the 'infected' water over and over.
The rest should be to follow yur vet's advice.
