ok..i put a live pinky rat in his feeding container and all he did was strike at it and his at it..now how can i get him to eat the live rat pinky and not strike and hiss at it...

it is in defense mode right now....
picture your self in a strange world surrounded by strange, scary looking things, and there's a scary looking Giant throwing you around and whatnot, then he offers you a juicy cheeseburger..
are you going to forget your fear and just say, 'hey, that looks good! think i'll have me some!' NOPE!
the snake is in defense mode for several reasons...
may not be acclimated / settled in yet
may be terribly afraid of you
maybe going into shed
probably seeing too much 'action' near him.. ie. your head/face staring at him (that can be pretty stressfull to a little snake!)
I suggest putting the pinky in a deli cup with him and putting the deli cup in a dark room for a while, either in a dark box or with paper around the cup, this way it can not see ANYTHING other than what is in that deli cup.
don't check on him for several hours or you'll possibly ruin the process of him 'calming down' and get him aggitated again.
just check maybe 3-4 hours later, and check slowly, carefully, quitely first without turning on the lights.
I can almost gaurantee he will have eaten it.
I had one litter this year of 37, and about of them acted this way and just wouldn't eat.
I used this trick and eventually all ate but one who never ate and died.

He's not mean- he's a very sensitive snake striking out at a world that doesn't understand him. You should play him some Staind very softly and say that you really do know what he's going through.
Er... seriously, it's what the other poster said. He's just more scared and nervous than most. You'll probably have to treat him extra-gently.
