During the summer of 2001 we purchased an adult pair of CBIs that were sold as "100% het for Sharp Strain Albino." Spring of 2002 the het female delivered her first litter--3 albinos and 8 possible hets. There have been some back porch conversations about whether our adult hets are Sharp or Kahl Strain. We have one hold-back male (and all of the possible hets) from that first litter. The now 17 month old male looks just like our adult Sharp Strain male that we purchased from Brain Sharp. However, we know that looks can be deceiving. We do not have any Kahl animals nor have we seen any 17 month old Kahl animals to help us in identifying the genetic line. Is there anyone out there who feels that they can determine whether a 17 month old albino is Sharp or Kahl based on some current photographs? the overall coloring looks more like a sharp to me, sharps just kind of have a differnt glow to them the then kahls do, im just guessing though its hard to tell in pics because the flash washes so much out, best of luck

Thank you for the reply, Jason. We, too, believe that this baby has the "looks" of a Sharp but we fully realize that we've only been working with Sharp Strains for 2 1/2 years so our opinion doesn't carry the weight of other, more experienced herpers. If any others would like to put in their two cents, we'd love to hear from you. Thank you again, Jason.

I couldn't say one way,or,another in all fairness...I will tell you though,that the original strain is diversified to the point,that there is no single set of visual criterea that could be useful posting a single picture of any given individual,for the sake of comparison.it could look drasticly different in both color,and,pattern from one to another within that strain...the Sharp strain however,has not been bred to enough different unrelated lines yet,(appearantly?)to vary as dramaticlly(MHO)from one individual to another,and,there is a strong tendency for certain characteristics to be more consistant...that being said,here's a couple of reference pics of a baby Sharp str. albino,the markings,and,pattern configuration are fairly typical of most I've seen.(approx. 2-3 months old,I'll post some of the same animal at about a year,and,a half.)best of luck,hope all is well w/the family,and,congrats on this years litter(s?)

Again,this is just one animal,and,I offer the pics simply to give you something to compare to. nothing implied one way,or,another...I really haven't owned enough of either strain to feel qualified to say based on looks alone.

This is her brother,produced from the same pair two years previous. He's about 3 1/2 yrs. now. I hope he's got some lead in his pencil(s) this year! (*lol*)
