Red tailed Boa......

theredneckgal Nov 05, 2003 04:19 PM

Ok, Hello first!!! I am a Uromastyx owner now and the pervious owner (about 10 yrs ago ) of a Ball python. So that being said I do have experience with snakes. But here is the deal. I am a bartender and both the people I work with and my customers know I have a love of reptiles. I had a customer come to me last night with a request that I take a Red Tailed Boa that her ding bat buddy bought two weeks ago. I guess the story behind him getting rid of it is that his wife is having a baby in 2-3 weeks and she doesn't want that "thing" around the baby. I have yet to see the snake. I have been told it is between 3-5 feet and sex is unknown. I have been told that it has been handled without problem thus far. So what can you guys tell me about these guys?? Need cage size housing info, size of feed ect!!!!!!!!!!Help I really want to talk this guy at least until I can get it another home and I know that the cage they have him in is way to small!!! 30 gallon short! But I also want to make sure I am taking proper care of him. It has been years since I have owned a snake and I want to make sure I have my facts straight! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Kirsten,

Here is a link to my care sheet page on my website.
Here you will find a lot of good info on boas.
I use a 6'x 2'x 20" cage for my adult boas.

Take care,
