heat pits?

larrymc Nov 05, 2003 09:04 PM

i have a ball python and a bci as well. the bp as most of you know have the heat pits on the upper lip. i was always told that boas have the pits on the lower. well, my bci has no pits. at least none visible. so are there different species of boas out there with pits?
thanks in advance!

Yep,tree boas have heat pits to detect birds while in flight.Emeralds,Gtp's,Atb's,etc. all have the heat sensitive pits. Not sure about all tree boas like indonesians, solomon islands, etc.Anyway hope that helps.Regards Bill McLeod
