my new savannah and my old one

i havn't posted here in a while but after struggling with my sav and his mbd he finally died in my lap today.I have decided toget a baby very active and alert baby rather than the 2 ft sleepy lizard that i started with last time becuase i love savs and monitors in general.I picked a very active 6 inch sav and i was wondering as long as he always eats grow and is active then i don't have to get him dewormed or anything becuase i have heard stories of ppls savs dieing becuase of medicine.I want to feed him insects and a bit of turkey for most of hi juvenile life.at what size should i switch to mice.i am going to be having him in a cage 30x12 and have a cage 4ftx2ft waiting at what size should i switch him.i was thinking when he was 12 inches. thatnks in advanced

It's always sad when your reptile dies, especially when it suffers.I had to put down my Dumerils because of Cancer that kept coming back.Feed it crickets(dusted with calcuim/vitamins)and switch it to mice when it can easily eat them(pinkies first). My Blackthroat got crickets for about 2-3 months, then I switched her to mice, baby quail. Now she eats rats, day old chicks, mice and occasionally turkey diet, shrimp, and frog legs(her favorite).I would switch to the big cage when it gets to 12"like you said).Good luck
