Peachthroat monitor

erikj Jun 20, 2003 12:54 AM

Hi all,
I am look to get a small to medium sized monitor. I've kept a bearded dragon, iguana(was a rescue for about 6 months untill i could find another home), and currently have 4 boas (suriname and colombian). I did a google search for peachthroat monitor, and only about 5 good pages came up. Only one page stated size, 3-5', is this true? Pro exotics had lots of nice pics, and say the peachthroat may be more skittish, but are by no means aggresive. Anyone have any experience with them? Know the full size or have websites on them?
Thanks,
Erik

5' seems awfully big, but there is a real lack of LTC adults, don't know where they go, but I have ideas.

I've got 5, I believe all of them are fairly young.

Size of mine goes up to probably just short of 4'.

Skittish, at times. Agressive, at times. But it must be taken in the proper context. Never scary, but can be a handful to deal with at feeding time. Most for sale are w.c. fresh imports and need lots and lots of work and time, at least for me. Only one of mine is even close to handleable and then only for a couple minutes before she tires of it. In my opinion not a good choice for a 'pet', but they are great monitors.

All websites can really give are the basics, I think husbandry goes well beyond that, and is more about making decisions based on what is seen.

Good Luck,

comes in 4x8 sheets. My preference for adhering at the moment is FRP rivets and silicon (just for simplicity and ease). I've used the FRP adhesive alone, silicon alone, and/or screws in the past.

Here's an old pic of some of the enclosures.
