SephirothsRage Jun 23, 2003 10:09 PM

i put together the cage and now here comes the final part the monitor
i would like to know now with an overall consensus what would the best first monitor be a type with personality would be great and as ive read almost all monitors have great personalities.
i have no intention of trying to force one of these herps to b something they are not
if i attempt to handle them and such and they see fit to bite and hiss and not want to b handled then i will just admire them from a far

anyones imput would be beautiful i would just like opinions on what u all think so i can go do research on them for the final decision

and if you have any questions for me of any kind go ahead and ask

ackies are beautiful, intelligent, mild-tempered, and very hardy. they are also small, so take up less cage space, and many people keep multiples together in breeding colonies (personally, i only have one, and she is fantastic).

thank you, that is all

Ackies! They're awesome animals. I know some people are really inclined to want a big monitor for their first monitor, but consider that a smaller monitor in the same size cage will have a lot more room to move around and act like a monitor. Ackies are beautiful, fairly active, and just fun to watch. Also, if you're the type that wants to be able to hold your monitor (I'm not), Ackies generally learn to tolerate handling pretty well.

Have not posted on this forum for along for many reasons. But u are the lucky first one.lol.

Ackie for first under 30"

Black/white throat for first over 30"
Ackies 100% CBB
Many black and whites throats are being CB.

Both eat great, east to care for in terms of heat and humidity.

Just with the throats they get large. Ackie is the best choice hands down.

I've heard that dumerils monitors get very friendly and attached to their owners, and are hardy and easy to care for for beginners. I would have got one but my mom wouldnt let me get a big monitor so I'm stuck with a nasty mean little timor(which is a good choice if you dont want to handle it by the way, very lithe, very pretty, but very stupid)
