White throats and savannahs

Brittbrat Jun 24, 2003 11:07 AM

A coulple of months ago I went to a reptile show and purchased a savannah monitor. At least thats what I though it was until I took it with me to the rescue I voluteer at and the director said it looked like it could be a white throat. I was wondering if you guys could post some pics of your savannahs and your white throats. young and adults please. Also mine is about 4 months old so if you have any at that age please send pic of them
Thanks
Brittany
p.s. Unfortunately I do not have pics of mine at this time

There really is no confusing the two, they are VERY different animals. Cranial morphology, coloring, tail length in proportion to the body are all different. Albigularis (white or black throats) have longer tails than exanthematicus does.

Cheers

From the looks of it, you forgot to shave this morning....haha. Is that George's brother? Hope they are staying out of the excessive heat we're having!

At 4 months old a properly cared for whitethroat is about 2 ft long. A 2 month old bosc is about 6 inches long and they are shaped different at that age. Heres a whitethroat at around 10 months old and 42 inches. This is one of many color and pattern diferences among the whitethroat alone. Get a pic of your animal. You will find out quickly.
