Dallas/Fort Worth Milk Snakes

stennyson Feb 01, 2006 03:59 PM

Does anyone have any locality data they would be willing to share for Milk Snakes around Dallas/Fort Worth? Data seems scanty at best. I have personally collected one near Moss Lake and one across the Red River in Oklahoma but that is all. I have some vague unverified data for other DFW area specimens but am interested in any information anyone is willing to share.

Thanks

Stu Tennyson

Hey Stu,
I have quite a bit of locality data south of there, here in Montgomery County but you might want to check out Troy Hibbitts father's site if you haven't already.....(http://www.kingsnake.com/dfw/)
Don Shores might even have some but I am not sure if he gets out and herps much out there...probably spends all his time cleaning snake poop..lol....just kidding Don.
Hope all is well.

Hi Nathan

Thanks for the response. I've read Hibbits site and most of what is available in literature. I'm planning some spring collecting and just trying to gather some info. I'm going to take a couple of my boys with me for their fist "real" snake hunt. I might even try to get Don S. to go with me if I can divert him from his "dooties" for a day (couldn't help it, Don). I'm interested in your Montgomery Co. data. I don't think that would be too far for a day trip.

Thanks

Stu

I hope you are doing well. I have heard many folks in the past talk about Lake Ray Hubbard on the north eastern side. Looking in stumps etc... No milks but you can also flip in the grasslands by Bowie, Texas as well.

Best Wishes,

Steven

Steve

Good to hear from you. I'm doing fine. How about you? Where are you these days? Thanks for the info. I'll check it out this spring.

Take Care

Stu

Hey Stu. I hear your family keeps getting bigger and bigger. Congrats. Dianna and myself got married in 2000. We are doing well. I have tried to stable out what I keep these days. Mostly Annulata, Subocs and stuff I observe in the wild. I tried some hondo's from Shores but Dianna hated them. So I stick to what works for us. Still make the yearly trips to alterna country and have fun. Luck is varied from year to year but go mostly to get out and have fun.

The real question is.. How is your family? I hope you guys are doing well. I think about you guys all the time. Dianna and I talk about the langtry wedding. I see your old pics in books and stuff too...

Well If you want to get out in the metroplex to look for herps then I would try the Grasslands for flipping. If you still live in the area where Don mentioned then you have some roads in your area to produce Calligaster, holbrooki and emoryi.

Feel free to email me at work.
