Record, B.C.C.

Have not posted in a while and was just wondering. I would like to see some pictures of really huge B.C.C. and try to get the " low down " on who has some real MONSTERS in overall weight and length. I have some huge Peruvians and Guyanas, as some of you have seen and I am wondering, if my biggest Guyana, could be the largest overall in captivity? Now, that the one in San Diego is dead, she may be the biggest at around 90 pounds and approaching 14ft? Anyway, lets see who responds? Once again, here is the Queen of the Snake Room, in her 8x30x18 cage........Johnson Herp

The female at the San Deigo zoo was pushing 16ft. They kept a 10ft colombian in the same cage with her and it looked like a twig. I have one here that is over 11ft, pretty big and nothing compared to the monster they had at the zoo.

I seen the Big One at San Diego about 8yrs ago and it was an impressive animal overall, but when I seen it, it was on the skinny side. It was Big enough at that time to warrant a gasp of breath, but I still do not believe that it was 16ft and never have? Remembering, what that animal looked like and seeing this one, I have to say that " overall, this is a much more impressive Boa. " I may go as far as getting some officials out here to witness measurments and weight. She may be the biggest? I have posted on this topic before, and got hardly no responses? Maybe, I got bad breath? Thanks, for your time Kemper. Here she is, with a male. The male is better than 30 pounds and nine feet long.......Johnson Herp

OK. That'll teach me to catch up on all the new posts before going off half-cocked 9below). I too would like to know who's keeping the mondos. Thanks for your pics!

Here is another one of my Guyanas photo'd in Guyana. She is over 12ft. Here, also is my 12ft Melanogaster and another 12ft 12ft Pucallpa Peruvian. I have some pretty big girls.I believe that size is dependant on food intake and genetics, " not local, when it comes to B.C.C. ".......Johnson Herp

There use to be a picture on the net of a person standing next to the class, and it was stretching up the glass about 8ft. That takes one BIG snake. I have had over 5 surinames over 10ft, and I still belive that the snake was over 15ft (I belive it was 15ft 10-11 inches). The only person I knew with pictures of it was the late Paul Spencer.

Ken Boyer is the Reptile Curator at the San Dieog Zoo.
I'm sure he could give you some more info the 16 footer.

Dave Barker and I were recently was treated to a behind the scenes tour by Ken.

I asked Ken about the big female Surinam. I believe he said she died before he took over. Apparently her body wasn't kept, but rather fed off to other animals at the zoo. I was told this was standard practice when animals die in collections.
