how long after brumation to start feeding

eric1170 Feb 02, 2006 12:47 AM

i was wondering how long it takes for my yearling pair of tangerine hondurans to start to feed again? Islowly brought the temp back upto 85 on the warm side and the cool end is stable at 76. It has been almost two weeks and they both have shed already. They both were given a mouse hopper in a small container to isolate them with the mouse but they just ignore it. any sugestions, all my breeder pairs of cal kings ate right away as well as my san diego mountain kings, baja mountain kings, eastern indigos, cribos, pueblans, florida kings. is it just that hondurans need more time? thanks eric

Some snakes like to eat right away after brumation, some don't. Generally Hondurans are strong feeders. The longest I've had post-brumation snakes not feed was 3 weeks - almost all will eat two weeks (or earlier) after coming out of cooling.
