German Giant Attitude

jakentbc Feb 02, 2006 07:56 AM

I have a question about GG.

I have a year old female that is hypored/orange GG X hypopastel. She is a full hypo with clear nails and all. She isn't as big as i thought a GG would grow to in a year BUT WOW, she has a big attitude!

Such an attitude that i thought she was not a female. She shows male signs when ever she sees either my 5 year old male or 4 year old female. When ever she sees them her throat turns black, she head bobs, and goes completely insane. Yet, when i look at the base of her tail near the vent, I am convinced she is a female.

So I was wondering if it is just the GG blood in her that makes her such a Bully. When ever i touch her she is the sweetest little thing. Last weekend I tried introducing her to my older female and I didn't feel comfortable doing it for much longer. Oh well, glad I have extra cages.

I really don't think it has anything to do with being GG or not. Some dragons will tolerate others, some will not but like you said at least you've got extra cages so that's good.

They both do. Males are usually more pronounced but it's still not a good way to sex. The only way to sex for sure is by the presence or absence of hemipenile bulges.

I am sure that she doesn't have the buldges. I guess i have to say that i've never seen femoral buldges this big. Maybe it is because she is truely hypomelanistic and therefore are easier to see.

When her throat turns black it is an intense black! but goes back to white orange when i put a towel over the window of her cage that lets her see the other dragons. I guess i'll have to wait a few more months to see if she breeds.

I am 85% sure she is female....when she lays eggs i will be 100% sure.

Here's a link of exactly what to look for and how to look for it.

yeah...i actualy know how to sex them. I've breed dragons for couple years. I have had one male and one female for couple of years and i usually sell their babies pretty fast. last year i got this new female so that i could sell babies that are the fad right now.

its just that she has shown nothing but male breeding behaviors the last 4 months.
