I have acquired a leopard gecko. The age is unknown and she is around 5-6 inches long. She is in a 10gal aquarium. There is indoor/outdoor carpet in the bottom os the tank. I use a heating pad under half the tank. There was a half log, a thermometer and a water dish in the tank. I have added a small dish for the mealworms and replaced the log with a plastic container with a small amount of peat moss (dampened). When I got her she was at the end of a shed (2wks ago). The skin never completely shed off her tail, which is why I added the moist box. She is now in another shed cycle. She eats very little. Because of the shedding and the move I have not really worried about it. For the past year she was only fed mealworms, the previous owner felt she did not move fast enough to catch crickets. I am going to try some for myself though. The previous owner also did not provide enough moisture since she has lost a couple of toes. I think I am correct. I am a school teacher and this gecko is housed in my classroom. The children have been really good about the noise level around her tank and not bothering the tank. What else do I need to be doing? Thanks!!
