Nice snake. Get a different thermometor though.

No offense, but I don't agree with all you folks that imply somebody's a bad herper if they don't use a temp gun. These snakes live in a wide range of temps, and unless you're brumating, breeding, or incubating, I don't think that level of precision is required for the rest of us pet owners.

Never said he needed a temp gun. I agree that they can withstand a large variety of temps. But as the keeper of the snake it is your responsability to know exactly what those temps are.

Maybe you should have ask if i had a different thermometor because that one isnt my primary one it just happens to be left from when that tank was used for aquarium fish. i have a probe type thermometor and it works just fine.

You are right, I should have asked instead of assumed. I am sorry if I stepped on any toes. I appologise.

The "exact" temps?

I'm sorry, but I respectfully disagree...

Did I miss something. I did not see anyone mention a temp gun until you did. I think they were just saying an outside temp strip is not the best. Everyone has their own way of caring for their corns. As long as they are healthy, and getting the environmental requirements that they need.

No, but that has been the general opinion around here, if you've been keeping up with the posts. Everybody knocks dial and strip thermometers.

It's like when you have a baby/kid and everybody says you're a bad parent if you do "x", when "x" is perfectly fine, but not the politically correct thing or the "trendy" thing...

Can you tell it's a pet peeve of mine??

Yes, I went through (and am still going through)the whole trend thing with raising children. The same goes. Eveyone has their own way. As long as it works and they are healthy, getting everything they need.
Sorry the temp gun thing bothers you. I do not have one, and although I think it'd be neat, I am probably not going to get one any time soon.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to pick on anybody in particular. I think the dial gauges and temp strips you get at Petsmart and Petco are good enough to get a reasonably close estimate to ensure you're not cooking your snakes.

As long as folks maintain a good substrate and range of hides along the thermal range of the enclosure, the snake will go where they want to warm/cool. I've made significant changes to my milk snake enclosure due to the wonderful, helpful suggestions of you all on this forum and want to thank everybody for their help.
