Pueblan milk snake cage size

snakelady2 Feb 02, 2006 03:31 PM

Hello Everyone,
My name is Shannon and I'm new to this forum (although I've posted on the California Kingsnake forum a few times). I've heard a couple different suggestions regarding cage size for an adult pueblan milksnake. Right now she's 28 inches long and I have her in a 20 gallon tank. Is this big enough for an adult? She's very healthy and doesn't show any signs of stress that would indicate the enclosure is undersized. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Everyone may not agree with me but in my opinion a 20 gallon tank is more that enough room for this animal. Good Luck! ~ Mike

I think that should be plenty big enough. As a general rule, I think if the length plus the depth of the cage is close to the length of the snake, you should be fine.

Dave,

That's a pretty snake. Here's his cousin...

Room to stretch out is better. Mine are in 3' x 2' x 2' home made cages for the adults. Yearlings kept in 30 qt. rubbermaids, painted white on outside to give them privacy.
Every couple months the "scenery" is moved around for a change of pace.
