Strange white scales down back of Lemon Pastel

JohnMichael Feb 02, 2006 03:44 PM

Hello,
Can anyone help me out I have a male Lemon Pastel from last years babies that is developing a streak of white scale down his back more show up with every shed ( 2 to 4 scale each shed).
At first I thought it was a mouse bite or scape but upon further investigation I saw it was perfectly good scale turning white. The scales first fade lite yellow, then develope a white outline on the scale ( not around the scale )then the next shed it is white. Any clues, guesses, or personal experiences will sure be welcomed.

Thank John O

A photo would be nice if possible. I've had snakes develop light white/yellow lateral scales but never along the dorsum.

I have seen this on a few snakes here. Scales along dorsal area begin tan, then yellow or even pink, then end up white. In our experience it has passed on to some offspring. We plan to breed two together to see if the white spots increase. Line bred trait? Genetic? Random? See "Snowflake" under Special Breeding Projects on our website.

Good luck with it.
