Today was kinda warm so I decided to go for my first herping trip of the year some nearby woods for a few hours to relieve some stress....I was just thinking that I was stupid for going herping this early in the year.....but my day got so much better when I spotted this guy along side a creek...just a common snapping turtle...but it was a big one...at least a 10 in. carapace...I have not seen one that big in a while...and luckily I brought my camera so I get to share with you all

Hey Daniel ~ Very cool. What state are you in that you are already finding snappers? Here in Mass., things have been pretty warm most of the winter, but no snappers yet. Usually the first week of March or so like when we find Spotted turtles and wood turtles. Nice pictures by the way!

I am in North Louisiana.....I really could not believe I seen one that early in Feb...it was a really warm day though... now that March has started and we are getting good 85 deg. weather....I am starting to find all kinda stuff
