classifieds?

Is it just me or has there been an increase of adult females on the classifieds for relatively no money? Just wondering what everybody else thought.

Tricky time of year...some people are selling cbb females to make room for hatchlings...some aren't.

btw...I'm learning for the first season what "make room" really means. It means "I don't produce enough rats" lol

Good luck to you

Could be non-feeding wild caught and sometimes "make room" means take my problem off my hands

Make room for me: I need to move hatchlings from last year to make room for hatchlings expected this year.

Earlier in the season alot of CB and raised adult females were being sold at high prices for the upcoming season (they were all eating and had good weight), breeders were buying so they could breed the normals off to ther co-doms and dom traits. Now alot of gravid wilds are being imported. Most of these snakes are of little or no interest to breeders due to the fact that they are already gravid with what most likley will be the sperm of a normal male. If the female is gorgeous and possibly a morph they will be sold quick for a high turn around, but the standard normals offer very little to breeders who would rather not introduce a wild specimen into their collection, house, TRY and feed, and then try to get back up to weight all for normal babies.(not that there is anything wrong with producing normals, but it is a lot of hassle in the long run.)
Just my 2 cents.

I learned last year that cheaper is not always good. Picked up a sub-adult female for 200 or so shipped becouse I am a jack@ss and spent three months trying to get her to eat wich she now does sporadically and only on mice. Not the worst horror story I've heard (or experienced) but... Also she had what apeared to be a burn (brown) on her entire stomach. It was well on the way to being healed and after her first shed it was almost invisible. She still hisses at me but has NEVER struck. All in all I'm pleased with her now but I would have done well to not cheap out so much.

I scooped up several sub or small adult females last year around this time - Feb-April for $100-$250 a piece weighing in between 1000 grams to 1600 (plus) grams - either they didn't make weight in time for cooling and breeding or people ran out of things to breed, they were making room, or whatever - I haven't had any problems with any of them (except the one that turned out to be a male) they eat great, the ones I have put with males have all bred and ovulated just fine - I have a couple that I held back for next year. But yeah - I have seen some really questionable ads in the classifieds the past couple of weeks so I would definately be cautious - but sometimes clearing out space really just means clearing out space - lets face it sometimes ball people overbuy.

The ads I have seen have all said cbb for about $200-$250 at about 1500g - 2000g

Cbb or genuine ltc females that size are not even usually for sale this time of year, let alone at deals like that.Could be the deal of the century..or the reason they are still there.
