Letting them See Each Other?

lacie143 Feb 02, 2006 10:43 PM

I have a year old male and a three month old female bd. They are housed seperately of course, but they can see each other from a few feet away. They seem very interactive, Norbert, my male, bobs his head, his beard gets nice and puffy and blue, and his colors look great. My female hand waves to him all the time. Its so adorable!
Anyway, Norbert has seem to come alive since Nola,f, got here. I just want to be sure that they won't stress out by being 'teased.' I will be breeding them once they are of size, and i dont want to mess anything up. Anyone else let their mates see each other from their cages?

It really depends on your dragons and how much it is stressing them. A little bit of stress (excitement) is probably fine but it it gets too bad or you notice eating differences I'd put a block up.

As long as both dragons are eating fine and n ot showing any signs of stress, then leave them as they are. But if one or the other stops eaten or shows other signs of stress (one way to tell if they are stressed is the appearance of bars or spots on their underside, which normally should be an unbroken off white. Color morphs may not be off white normally, but since I haven't seen too many color morph bellies, can't say for sure if they are all off white underneath. But in either case, it shouldn't be much or any bars or splotches on the underside.
