pastel breeding at just under 400grms

here's my v.p.i. pastel male just under 400 grms trying to breed with my 2200+grm female. she gave me 7 good eggs last year so we'll see how she does this year. this little guy seems to be off to a good start but i'll keep pumping him up with small rats just in case he isn't producing viable sperm right now.

Is it really a good idea to be breeding a male that small? I know they can do it, but aren't there problems that could happen?
