How many Leo's can be housed together.

herpersteve Jul 26, 2003 04:59 AM

I know two male leo's can not be housed together, but is there any limit on how many females you can have to one male?

Hey,

Alot of people would think that there isn't much of a limit, but in my opinion a 1.3 group is perfect, but you can house up to 10(sometimes more) females.

A male can breed many many many females. There really is no limit to how many you house together, but just make sure all the females get along and that the size of your enclosure is big enough to house all the leos.

I agree with both Josh and Britney. The main thing to remember is to have enough floor space for each animal. I saw a rule of thumb once saying 10 square inches of tank floor space per gecko (actually, thats roughly 3" x 3"- sounds too cramped- maybe it was 10" x 10" per animal). I wish I knew where I saw that so I could give the reference... sorry.

Anyway, if I haven't concused you more, then I hope I helped... If anyone else has seen or heard of this reference, please help.

You might be thinking of 10 gallons per leo. For example, one leo in a 10 gallon cage. You can use that rule, but IMO 2 leos could be housed comfortably in a 10 gallon.
